Thirty-six consecutive runs with single Non-Explosive Electro-Hydraulic Bailer

TTS Non-Explosive Electro-Hydraulic Bailer Bottom puts well back in production

Posted on August 16, 2024

Thru-Tubing Systems was contacted by a major deep-water operator in the Gulf of Mexico inquiring about a solution for dump-bailing glycol with non-explosive bailers to remedy a non-producing well.

Using our Non-Explosive Electro-Hydraulic Bailer Bottom, we successfully made thirty-six bailer runs with a single tool without any misruns. In conjunction with a wireline company, TTS used a hot-rod tool to dissolve a 600 foot long hydrate plug in 5-1/2 inch, 20 lb/ft tubing in over 3,500 feet of water.

Our efforts allowed the operator to get the well flowing again, gaining production for the first time in over a year.

Highlights

  • Thirty-six consecutive runs on a single tool without redress
  • 600’ hydrate plug dissolved using glycol and hot-rod system
  • Hydrate plug was at 40°F in 3,500 feet of water and then successfully removed
  • Placed well back on production that had been plugged with hydrate for over a year
